Ph.D. Indiana University - 19th and 20th century art, art theory and historiography. The function and meaning of visual imagery in social and psychological contexts are a framing interest. Recent publications and exhibitions organized focus on Edvard Munch, German Expressionism, the Weimar Republic, and contemporary German art. Current research on Expressionism in the arts and film, and on German art after 1945.
