Job Placement
University of Chicago students seeking positions should contact Charles Cohen (cac5@uchicago.edu), faculty advisor to job seekers, to be added to the CHALK site for announcements and placement advice. University of Chicago students or post-doctorates interested in job announcements mailed to the department should contact Tara Morin (tmorin@uchicago.edu) to be added to the listserv.
Workshops and mock interviews In early autumn, the job placement faculty advisor offers a workshop on the academic job search for students who are currently on the job market or anticipate being on the market in a year's time. The workshop covers such issues as preparing a cover letter and dossier, interviewing and campus visits. In early February, students who will be interviewing at the College Art Association's annual meeting or other conferences can participate in mock interviews with members of the Art History department faculty. Contact the Department Coordinator to schedule an interview.
*Interfolio The University of Chicago has contracted with Interfolio, Inc. to maintain dossiers, for students seeking jobs or fellowships. A confidential credentials file allows each of your recommenders to write one letter which is stored and may be used repeatedly for any period of time. You may also elect to keep copies of transcripts, teaching evaluations, or sample syllabi in your file. You can consult with your dissertation advisor for advice on preparing the dossier.
