Students admitted to the graduate program are awarded a five-year fellowship package that includes full tuition, an annual living stipend, 2 summer stipends, and medical insurance. Teaching training is a vital part of the educational experience at the university and in the department. Students focus on their course requirements during the first and second years and fulfill the teaching requirements during the third year and either the fourth or fifth year in the program, allowing for a funded year of research off-campus in the remaining year. Students typically apply for university-based and external write-up fellowships for their sixth year.
The Office of College Admissions offers daily tours of campus that are open to prospective graduate students. From March to November, campus tours are offered daily Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. From December to February, tours are offered at 10:30 a.m. only. While no reservations are necessary for tours, we do advise you to call ahead to ensure that a tour will be held on the day and at the time you would like to visit.
