2019–20 UChicago AIC COSI Fellows and Rhoades Curatorial Intern

The Department of Art History is pleased to announce the 2019–20 Andrew W. Mellon Chicago Objects Study Initiative (COSI) Fellows and Rhoades Curatorial Intern at the Art Institute of Chicago. PhD candidates Maggie Borowitz and Chloé M. Pelletier will serve as this year’s COSI Fellows, while Zhiyan Yang will serve as the Rhoades Curatorial Intern. Working closely with curatorial mentors, COSI Fellows engage deeply in AIC collection research and participate in related art historical and professional training. Rhoades Curatorial Interns work intensively on substantive ongoing or discrete projects that involve a range of museum work, such as collecting, storing, exhibiting, and conserving art.

Borowitz will conduct research for an exhibition of Latin American surrealist art and study objects in the modern collection in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art. Pelletier will conduct exhibition and collection research in the Department of European Painting and Sculpture, researching 18th century French and Italian art. Additionally, Yang will assist the Department of Asian Art with an online catalogue highlighting notable works in the Chinese Paintings collection amongst other curatorial projects.

Department alumni Carl Fuldner and Martina Lentino have also been awarded fellowship positions at the Art Institute. Fuldner joins the Department of Photography as the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow. Lentino, a former undergraduate major, joins the Department of Learning and Public Engagement as the Kress Interpretive Fellow.
