May 18, 2026

Lucia Rathke

Following her graduation with joint BA and MAPH degrees in art history in June, Lucia Rathke will be joining the Department of Provenance Research at the Art Institute of Chicago as the Ambassador Nicolas M. Salgo Fund Research Associate. Focused on the AIC’s collections connected to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and its successor states, Lucia will work to identify relevant objects and review related curatorial files, archival records, and any existing provenance documentation. This in-depth provenance work will also entail conducting archival research at other institutions across North America and Europe. Besides drawing on her art historical training in medieval art, Lucia will be able to put to good use her fluency in German, French, and Russian. Congratulations Lucia!
