Leslie Wilson

Biography

Leslie Wilson is a PhD candidate studying the history of photography. Leslie’s research focuses on photography’s use as a documentary medium and its relationship to art, reportage, and protest movements. Her dissertation examines photographic series by Santu Mofokeng, Gideon Mendel, David Goldblatt, and Guy Tillim that influenced the production, style, and display of color photography in South Africa after apartheid’s end, 1994-2004. She has held curatorial internships at the Art Institute of Chicago, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and the St. Louis Art Museum. In 2004, she received a BA with honors in International Relations from Wellesley College.
