Martin and his architecture firm UrbanLab worked with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to develop the 2050 Plan, which is a highly transparent and collaborative effort involving partners and stakeholders from across seven counties and 284 communities with a total population over 9 million people in northeastern Illinois. For nearly two years, UrbanLab collaborated with CMAP and its stakeholders to design and visualize urban design scenarios to assess where the region currently stands and to identify catalytic solutions for creating a future-oriented, sustainable and livable region.  Fri, May 8 @ 9:00 AM: Live Q&A on Zoom Participants: Martin Felsen and Sarah Dunn, Principal at UrbanLab Join Martin and Sarah to discuss urban design principles underlying ON TO 2050.     WEEK TWO: Social and Physical Mobility Mon, May 11: Pre-recorded video release Martin Felsen will discuss the design agenda underlying the future of mobility in Chicagoland’s next comprehensive plan, ON TO 2050. Approximately one-third of the Chicago metropolitan region’s population (8.5 million residents) lives in Economically Disconnected Areas (EDAs). These areas are least connected to prosperity, and experience chronic low employment, population loss and disinvestment. To build a stronger, more equitable future, Martin and his architecture firm UrbanLab envisioned a newly integrated multimodal transit system to ensure everyone has the ability to fully contribute to and benefit from the Chicago economy.  Fri, May 15 @ 9:00 AM: Live Q&A on Zoom Participants: Martin Felsen and Tina Smith, Director of Innovation and Strategic Alignment, CMAP Focus: Join Martin and Tina to discuss urban design mobility principles underlying ON TO 2050.     Contact Kelly O’Brien at kmobrien@uchicago.edu with questions or concerns.
