Angie Epifano

Biography

Angie is a PhD student in African Art History with a focus on West Africa during the colonial and pre-colonial periods. Her work is broadly engaged with issues of power, resistance, and cultural exchange between African and European actors. She has done extensive field work throughout West Africa and has been supported by several grants, including a summer FLAS to study Portuguese.

Angie graduated summa cum laude from Lewis & Clark College in 2016 with a B.A. with honors in Art History and Gender Studies. A revised version of her senior thesis is being published in the edited volume, Fictions of African Dictatorships, which is currently in press.
