Biography
Chloé M. Pelletier is a PhD Candidate specializing in Italian Renaissance art with a minor field in Modern and Contemporary American art. In 2013, she received her BA in art history from Johns Hopkins University, and in 2016 she earned her MA with a thesis on the influence of early Renaissance painting in the work of 20th-century Chicago artist Roger Brown. Her dissertation, “Ecologies of Landscape & Labor: Painting & the Environment in the Adriatic Renaissance” applies eco-critical approaches to the landscape backgrounds of Renaissance paintings to show how conceptions of the environment informed how art was made and experienced. She was a 2018-19 Fulbright scholar to Italy and has held research positions at the Blanton Museum of Art, the South Side Community Arts Center, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
