Alumni who majored or minored in art history or architectural studies in the Department of Art History have launched a vast range of stellar careers, inside and outside of academia. Many return to campus not only for Alumni Weekend but also to share insights into their professional trajectories with current students.
In recent years, alumni have presented on their careers as architects, preservationists, and art consultants. Many college alumni have supported the Department of Art History through generous gifts like the Rhoades Endowment, which supports a yearly class taught by a curator at the Art Institute of Chicago and a yearlong student internship at the Art Institute. Alumni are encouraged to send the department their bios and contact information for posting and to participate in the University of Chicago’s Arts Alumni Network.
