Ben Diego

Biography

Benjamin Diego is a PhD student studying early- and high-medieval art. His research centers on the art of the early-medieval book, taking special interest in organizational schemata, visual modes of theological discourse, the relationship between text and image, and the phenomenology of the book. Ben received his BA with honors and distinction in English and History from Stanford University in 2016. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Golden Award and Kennedy Thesis Prize for the best thesis in the Humanities for his “Where the Word Dwells: Architecture and ‘Architexture’ in Insular Gospel Books, 600-900 CE.” In addition, Ben currently holds a Ryerson Scholarship (2017), Beinecke Scholarship (2015), and Mellon Mays Fellowship (2014).
