Lex Ladge

Biography

Lex Ladge is a PhD Candidate specializing in the art and architecture of the ancient Greek world, with a focus on the 4th-1st centuries BCE. Her research focuses on the multisensory, experiential nature of architecture and conceptualizations of space. Her dissertation, entitled “The Politics of Overstimulation: Monumental Altar Complexes in the Hellenistic Period and their Lived Environment” investigates the affective nature of altars and the politics of spectacle, with particular attention to the monumentality, sculptural decoration, and ritual usage of these altar complexes. She serves as the project registrar for the Vigla Archaeological Project at Pyla-Vigla, Cyprus and will publish on the figurines found during excavation. Lex received her B.A. in Classics from Reed College in 2019. She is a Neubauer Family Distinguished Doctoral Fellow.
