Nancy Thebaut

Biography

Nancy studies medieval art and architecture with Professor Aden Kumler. Prior to the University of Chicago, she studied at the Ecole du Louvre (Diplôme de muséologie), the Courtauld Institute of Art (MA), and Agnes Scott College (BA).  In between her studies, she briefly worked for artist Judy Chicago. She has published on medieval and modern art, including articles in Medieval Feminist Forum, Above: For the Earth, Bitch: A Feminist Response to Pop Culture, and The Marginalia Review of Books. In her dissertation, Nancy considers objects and spaces made c. 850-1200 throughout western Europe that figure Christ's absence(s) following his Resurrection. From fall 2015-17, she will be a Kress History of Art Institutional fellow at the Institut national d'histoire de l'art in Paris.
