Help us in welcoming Mohit Manohar to the department of art history. He has accepted a two-year position as a Provost's Postdoctoral Fellow that will begin this fall 2022. In this position he will be teaching one course per annum for the department as he builds his research profile before transitioning to becoming a tenure-track assistant professor of art history.

Mohit is a scholar of South Asian art. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University and currently holds an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts. His most recent publication is “A Victory Tower Built by a Slave: The Chand Minar at Daulatabad in Deccan India” in Murqarnas; an earlier version of this article received the Elizabethan Club Graduate Essay Prize at Yale. Mohit is also a practicing fiction writer and has won a PEN/Robert J. Dau Award.

Mohit plans to use this time as a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow to complete his book manuscript, provisionally titled Refracted Cities: Delhi and Daulatabad in the Late Medieval Period. He will also be teaching two courses on South Asian Art and architectural history. Mohit is very excited to be joining the community here at Chicago and we are elated to welcome him!
