Chelsea Foxwell appointed Director of the Center for East Asian Studies

Chelsea Foxwell, Associate Professor of Art History, East Asian Languages and Civilizations, has been appointed the Director of the Center of East Asian Studies. 

Her work focuses on Japan’s artistic interactions with the rest of East Asia and beyond, nihonga and yōga (Japanese oil painting); “export art” and the world’s fairs; practices of image circulation, exhibition, and display; and the relationship between image-making and the kabuki theater.

Amanda Chacón named a 2023 Beinecke Scholar

We are delighted to congratulate Amanda Chacón, a third-year student majoring in Art History, Anthropology, and Latin American Studies for being named a 2023 Beinecke Scholar. Beinecke Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, their potential to succeed in graduate study and beyond, and most notably, their ability to formulate unique questions that contribute to their chosen field of study.
