WEFT presents the work of 20th century women weavers who worked out of The Little Loomhouse in Louisville, Kentucky. The Little Loomhouse (1939-present) is a system of cabins in Louisville, Kentucky that was established as a weaving studio, gallery space, and meeting place for Kentucky weavers.

Niall Atkinson Receives NEH Grant

Associate Professor Niall Atkinson, has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the multi-university digital research platform called Florence Illuminated: Visualizing the History of Art, Architecture, and Society.

“Individuals can use our data to build their own datasets and make their own arguments and publications—print or digital,” said Atkinson, project director for Florence Illuminated and associate professor in the Departments of Art History and Romance Languages and Literatures.

"CWAC Voices” Launched

We are pleased to announce the launch of CWAC Voices, an online journal for art criticism and exhibition reviews written in UChicago classes.

Bridget Madden Receives Outstanding Service Award

Associate Director of the Visual Resources Center, Bridget Madden, has been awarded the Outstanding Service Award from the Humanities Division. Madden provides support and resources not only to the Art History department, but to the entire humanities and arts community. 

Roko Rumora wins Center for Curatorial Leadership Fellowship

Roko Rumora, Ph.D. student in ancient art, has been selected for the Center for Curatorial Leadership’s 2024 Mellon Foundation Seminar.

Arnie Campa wins Beinecke Fellowship

We are thrilled to share our junior art history major Arnie Campa has won a Beinecke Fellowship for graduate study following her BA work at UChicago. The program seeks to encourage and enable highly motivated students to pursue opportunities available to them and to be courageous in the selection of a graduate course of study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
