Wu Hung, Christine Mehring and Leslie Wilson appointed at Smart Museum

Art History professors Wu Hung and Christine Mehring have been named Adjunct Curator and will both advise on Museum programming and acquisitions and produce the occasional major exhibition. In addition, Leslie Wilson (PhD 2017) has been named the first Curatorial Fellow for Diversity in the Arts, a two-year curatorial fellowship that is designed to help expand the professional fields of art history and museum practice to include individuals from traditionally underrepresented populations.

New Narratives for Contemporary Art

This one-day conference will address the need to produce new narratives for contemporary art history that engage in current post-colonial/decolonial debates. Contributors will include artists, art historians, and curators who organize their research and practice around non-hegemonic art and cultural processes, pointing to different historiographical perspectives.
