Pindar, Song and Space: Towards a Lyric Archaeology, Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019

Richard Neer, the Barbara E. and Richard J. Franke Distinguished Service Professor in Art History, Cinema & Media Studies, and the College, along with his co-author Leslie Kurke (University of California, Berkeley) have been awarded the 2020 PROSE Award in the Classics subject category. Granted by the Association of American Publishers, Neer and Kurke received the award for their book, Pindar, Song and Space: Towards a Lyric Archaeology, Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019. In this volume, Neer and Kurke develop a new, integrated approach to classical Greece: a "lyric archaeology" that combines literary and art-historical analysis with archaeological and epigraphic materials.

The Association of American Publishers recently unveiled 49 Subject Category Winners for the 2020 PROSE Awards honoring the best scholarly works published in 2019.
