Biography
Alyssa Miller comes to the University of Chicago from the world of particle accelerators for physics research and development. As a physicist with machine operations experience, she managed maintenance, upgrades and repairs and directed beam studies and analyses for a portion of Fermilab's accelerator complex in Batavia, IL.
She's proud to have spent nearly a decade at the lab developing language to facilitate communication of complex subject matter and is recognized for excellence in engagement of diverse audiences through outreach programs at both Fermilab and Iowa State University, where she earned her B.S. in Physics in 2014.
As a lifelong artist who plays in mixed media, movement and photography, Alyssa is delighted to support the students, faculty and staff of the Department of Art History as the Financial and Academic Affairs Administrator. As the FAAA (referred to as the "F-triple-A" for conversational ease), she works closely with the Department Chair and Directors of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies to guide business operations, support academic processes for students and faculty and acts as liaison to the Division of the Humanities leadership.
Alyssa is motivated by her personal mission to reach students, inspire their curiosity and encourage the pursuit of what excites them. She is an ally to underrepresented people in the workforce, a champion of inclusion and accountability practices and a careful listener who values openness and authenticity.
