Students travel to New York City as part of COSI Seminar, “Exhibition as Argument: Displaying Modern and Contemporary Art in Chicago and Beyond.”

In late October, twelve students traveled to New York City for an intensive three-day visit to museums and galleries as part of Jenny Harris’ fall seminar, “Exhibition as Argument: Displaying Modern and Contemporary Art in Chicago and Beyond.” Over the course of the trip, students met with curators and visited exhibitions at a wide range of art institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, Brooklyn Museum, SculptureCenter, MoMA PS1, White Columns, Gladstone Gallery, and more. The trip was made possible through the Gold-Gorvy Traveling Seminars, designed to foster object-driven academic discourse and original, collaborative research.
